Over the years in youth ministries, I have been excited about the calling of young people to full-time ministry. Whether at a camp or a youth conference, many young people dedicate their lives to serving the Lord and even make it known that God has called them to be a pastor. In response to these announcements and decisions, many of these young men have been welcomed with excitement by their parents and spiritual leaders.

Yet as I have seen over the years, there has been a sad trend among these young people. After the excitement of the announcement of the direction of ministry that God has called them to wears off, the desire to prepare and continue toward that goal wears off. There could be several reasons that a young person loses that fervor to give God their life. Those reasons could include the effort required to train, the time needed for preparation, or difficulties in life.

My burden in writing this book is to encourage that person to invest in the training process and prepare themselves for that moment when God chooses to use you. What you will notice as you go through the process, and definitely at the conclusion of your life, is that the training is worth it.
